The kids and I spent the entire day yesterday on the road, stopping frequently for "I gotta go to the bathroom!" and "I'm hungry!" whining -- as well as the stops I chose to make, such as the famous Fried Pie Place at Turner Falls in Davis, Oklahoma, and my uncle and aunt's house in Yukon, Oklahoma. Making that drive during the day lets me make stops to places like that, but it sure makes a longer and more irritating day because the kids are awake and alert. I think the all-night drive is preferable for the kids. The only stops I have to make then are gas fill-ups.
I listened to The Naked Scientists podcasts for most of the trip. Dr. Chris Smith and his pals seem to be the best at keeping me alert while driving.
