Bridge Collapses In Haiti As Dennis Strengthens; At Least 5 Dead
In all likelihood, I've been over this bridge several times. The article says it was in the southwest region, which is only accessible via one highway. There are several bridges on this highway, any of which could've been the one mentioned in the article. Since Haiti is traveled by so few, I'm guessing that the writer of the article did not feel the need to mention where exactly the bridge was located. If it is one of the ones on the main highway, it means that no-one will be going from Les Cayes to Port-au-Prince until that bridge is restored... and the way things are in Haiti, only God knows when that will happen. This also means that, unless tankers travel directly to the port of Cayes, no-one in that area will be able to buy gasoline or supplies, which then means that no-one will be able to run their generator for electricity.
Natural disasters have a much larger impact on Haiti than the same one would here in the US. If you're a praying person, please pray for my dear friends in Cayes. Things have already been hard lately, and if that main highway is impassable, things will be even harder.
