Today's English lesson

From Common Errors in English:

Palate/Pallet/Pallette?

Palate: (pronounced PAL-luht)Literally, the roof of your mouth, and by extension, your sense of taste.

Pallet: (pronounced PAL-let) A flat platform onto which goods are loaded, or occasionally used to describe a blanket or cushion spread onto the floor of a room for sleeping (I used to sleep on a pallet when I was a kid, and it wasn't a wooden crate thingy, it was just what we always called a blanket on the floor).

Pallette: (pronounced pal-LET) The flat board onto which an artist loads his paints, or by extension, the range of colors in a particular work of art or room decor.

Aren't you glad you stopped by and learned this tidbit of info?
