Happiness is...

...getting to make music with friends. Willie Nelson was right about that when he wrote:
The life I love is making music with my friends
And I can't wait to get on the road again.

While I'm not exactly "on the road" in the same way Willie meant it, I am "on the road" in terms of being on a team with other musicians, sharing the same purpose and goal. It's nice to share the journey with these new friends.

Tuesday night practice was awesome, as usual. We're doing a couple of oldies that I haven't dusted off for a while, and they're both songs that I loved playing and that actually feature the keyboard part. We're also working up a new one; there doesn't seem to be much, if any, piano or organ part on the recorded version of the new song, so I can just be minimal to nonexistent and enjoy listening to the other guys. Jeff kept telling me that he thought he could hear a B3 very faintly in the background, but I think it's just because he feels guilty that I wasn't playing. Heck, even if I did nothing but just stand there and play one note, I'd be thrilled just getting to be part of what they're doing.
