Resolutions I Can Keep

Michele over at A Small Victory has inspired me to come up with a list of resolutions that I know I can keep. Here's what I've come up with:

-Embrace my lack of impulse control (I swiped this one from her because I thought it was so good)
-take more road trips just because
-paint more
-write a song
-laugh until I can't breathe at least once a week
-go to the late movie at least once a month
-use the word "steatopygia" at least two times during the year
-blog incessantly
-plant some flower bulbs
-buy some new towels & washcloths and toss out the rags we've been using
-learn to use the Yamaha S08 keyboard at church
-compulsively collect pens and pencils
-take more pictures of my kids

So... what's on your list of resolutions that you know you can keep?

"I have a dream," he said slowly.
"I persist in dreaming it, although
it has often seemed to me that it could
never come true. I dream of a home with
a hearth-fire in it, a cat and dog,
the footsteps of friends -- and YOU."

    I remember
    Balewa Albert Blackman

    World Trade Center
    on September 11, 2001.

I remember Amina and Sarah Said, who were brutally murdered by their father in an "honor killing" on January 1, 2008.

"To celebrate the first of what I’m sure will be
many times I’m turning 29, I am going to wear
    head-to-toe French designers,
    eat as much chocolate mousse
as I can decently shove down my gullet,
and then buy myself a new
    carré foulard
because if I’m going to die old and alone
    with my dessicated ovaries rattling
around in my abdomen like maracas,
I’m damn well going to do it in Hermès."

    The numbers are complex,
but let me boil it down for the economic layperson.
Fannie Mae is a government company type thing
that has a large pile of money,
which I will call "A". The first thing it does
is create $20 million bonuses for
    high performance executives like
Franklin Raines, James Johnson and Jamie Gorelick,
which I will call "B." Next, it allocates
an amount "C" to lobbyists to make sure
    important Congressmen always get a
thoughtful holiday card from Fannie Mae.
    After subtracting B and C from A,
they are left with D, which is lent to homebuyers.
These homebuyers then pay back the amount E,
which, when subtracted from D, leaves F,
the amount Congress has to come up with.
In order to keep this important financial system
    humming along at peak efficiency,
it is necessary that you, the taxpayer, are F'ed.

    But if you want
    first responders
    with guns to be fast,
    then the first responders
    have to already be
    on the scene. Which means
they need to be the kind of people
    previously described as "victims,"
    only with guns...

These are some links I visit from time to time.
I cannot guarantee that you won't be offended
by someone's opinion on their own blog.
I don't always read people who agree with me.
It probably won't hurt you to read other opinions,
either, but you're on your own. Some of these
blogs don't always use the same family-friendly
language that I try to have here.

    I'm just sayin', is all.
